Diego Gisbert Llorens - Tsuruchi: I had envisioned him a bit older more of an Exp 3, but story and design get a lot of the final say in things. Diego did a great job here I just love this piece for one of my favorite characters.
Jason Behnke - Kokujin: As Jason drew the original Kokujin it was basically a moral imperative that he do this version. Crazy as a bag of cats he is. Jason did an awesome job with this madman in the dark, Surrounded by darkness caught in watchmens lantern light. Kokujin’s expression to me seems like “A NEW FRIEND TO PLAY WITH!” in the most mentally unbalanced way possible. I can only imagine the watchmen is now best friends with Kokujin and they hang out playing Go and PS3 games on the weekends.
Sam Flegal - Daigotsu Gyoken: Between being tainted and fallen we imagined him loosing control over his appearance. From the art stand point he’s an egged copy and we actually pushed for him to be named the False Gyoken.
Mario Wibisono - The Egg of Pan’Ku
Since the art has already been spoiled I figured I’d toss this fellow up. We wanted new art for the egg but wanted still to capture some of it’s old flare.
Noah Bradley - Foothold of the Mad.
Ruins, wreckage, madness. Is this where the cult of Pan’Ku lives? Did they do this? Is their home anywhere the madness takes root? Chaos and insanity were the go to ideas for this.
Mario Wibisono - Shinjo Tselu: Mario asked to do a male character. I know I was as surprised as you are. The detail as always is just amazing, we really focused on making sure he looked masculine as Mario and I are both aware of his strengths and weaknesses.
Jake Murray - Moto Ming-Gwok: Obelisks are just fun and cool looking and have been an under current within Death Priest themes. With his Open action I wanted to have a more contemplative moment for the illustration.
Michael Phillippi - Moto Xin: We saw Xin’s fallen madness as him running around in his great grandfathers armor taking vengeance for all perceived slights ever made against his family.
Adam Schumpert - Kimori Miyano: Adam provided to great sketches for this piece and somehow when they were showing off the sketches to everyone someone showed off the other one rather than the one we had chosen to go with so that is why he doesn’t look the way he was spoiled as.
Heather Kreiter - Tsiang: Heather and I had been talking about this piece for a while actually as she draws little old men fantastically. We’d wanted to slot him for a while and Tsiang’s description worked so well for him he found a home there.
Alberto Tavira - Typhoon Surge: Water beats fire if water gets to fire fast enough is the moral of the story here.
Shen Fei - Thunderous Legion: Rawr lots of imperial troops…I got nothing pretty straight forward piece.
Matt Wilson - Bayushi Kachiko Exp 2
An oldie and a goody, though not with out some controversy. It is among the best Kachicko images. The text on the side is, I am told, Wilson expressing some dislike with then lead writer John Wick. Still it’s an amazing piece.
I use to have a poster of this in my room when I was younger till a well meaning former girlfriend decorated my room and messed the print up with tape and glitter. :S We did not last long lol.
