April Lee - Kurohito’s Perfection
No one else really was allowed to do this card. Fortunately I didn’t have to beg April do draw it. She wanted to give him a nice final send off.
Isuardi Therianto - Asahina Akahiko
Called Asahina Red Cross in design, we wanted a young “paramedic” sort of Shugenja. One who would go into the fray of battle and get his kinsmen out alive. One of my favorites of the set. It’s very dynamic we get a sense of depth with his hands forward to cast and back to heal as arrow shafts fail to breach his air shield.
Shen Fei - Doji Tatsuzo
A good bit of TA was trying to show just how much the Crane and Mantis are going at it. Tatsuzo was designed to show how much trouble they were causing in the court. Here he holds up a tatter of Mantis silk found at an attack upon innocent Crane protected monasteries.
Veronica Jones - Daidoji Ibara
Burn baby burn. We needed her causing some chaos in the mantis shipyards. Veronica had some fun with the fire lighting I think.
Jake Murray - In the Right
I figured Doji Yuka would work well with this card so she got to be on it! That’s pretty much the whole story there.
Jeff Hill - Uji’s Saboteurs
More Crane hate on the Mantis. Never let it be said I let my Mantis playing ways get in the way of me beating on the clan in the art.
Alayna Lemmer - Asahina Nanae The Jade Champion
The goal with Nanae was to show off her in her new mantle of the Jade Champion. Which is a bit hard to do with a normal pose so Alayna came up with this sort of sweeping epic stance of her looking out into the distance. It has a lot of great detail to it and I think it’s a great look, easily one of my favorites Alayna has turned into me.
Jake Murray - Doji Yuka, Kakita Yusugi, an Insult answered, Incriminating Testimony.
Part of a series of images Yasugi and Yuka were designed to be a yojimbo courtier team in the Second City dealing with a Scorpion political enemy. Our attempt was to match the scene with the card abilities, I think it turned out perfectly.
